LSU head coach Les Miles will not be fired, athletic director Joe Alleva announced on Saturday following LSU’s 19-7 victory over Texas A&M.
“Les Miles is our football coach and he’ll continue to be our football coach,” Alleva said during Saturday’s postgame press conference according to The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger.
After rumors swirled regarding Miles’ future at LSU all week, Alleva diffused all speculation that Miles would be fired on Saturday.
“We’re going to go forward together and win championships here at LSU,” Alleva said according to Dellenger.
Alleva said he and Miles had spoken about the future of the program and said he was looking forward to working with Miles down the road.
“Les and I have talked about this program,” Alleva said according to Dellenger. “We are committed together to working to win to compete at highest level.”
Alleva added that he was satisfied with Saturday night’s victory and exuded confidence in Miles as the program’s head coach going forward.
“I’ve very pleased with tonight’s game,” Alleva said according to Tiger Rag’s James Moran. “Im very pleased going forward with Les Miles as our coach.”
