Odell Beckham Jr. … a North Carolina fan?
Believe it. The former LSU wide receiver and current New York Giants star was seen Monday at University of Phoenix Stadium during the national championship game wearing a bit of Carolina blue as the Tar Heels took on Gonzaga.

Why is Beckham, who played for LSU from 2011-13, a North Carolina fan? Actually, the answer is interesting.
As reported by USA Today’s Andrew Joseph on Saturday, the only way Beckham would have pursued basketball was if the former Tigers star received an offer from North Carolina to hit the hardwood.
Here’s more from Joseph’s piece:
“I always said if I ever was to play basketball or pursue basketball, the only way is if I had an offer from UNC to play basketball,” Beckham told Joseph. “I went to Roy Williams’ camp when I was younger. I still remember walking in there and everything like that. I’ve just always been a UNC fan.”
Fascinating stuff from Beckham. Who knew, right?
It’s a good thing for LSU that Beckham didn’t go the basketball route. Of course, the three-time Pro Bowl player has grown into a bright young star with the Giants since entering the NFL as the 12th overall pick in 2014. Before then, Beckham showcased his skills in Baton Rouge in a big way.
Good for Beckham for keeping his Tar Heels fandom alive.
