Former Tigers infielder DJ LeMahieu, now with the Colorado Rockies, won the National League batting title by hitting .348 this year. He totaled 192 base hits in 552 at-bats in 146 games, topping Washington Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy by one point.
Apparently, LSU wanted to send a large message in honor of LeMahieu.
As reported by The Advocate’s Luke Johnson, the Tigers had a congratulatory billboard put up in Denver to showcase the player’s accomplishment. It will remain on display through Oct. 16.
