LSU students love them some Ed Orgeron.
As reported by The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger, the Tigers’ interim coach entered Tiger Stadium on Saturday night to chants of “Coach O” before LSU hosted Alabama in a giant SEC West matchup. Orgeron has won over hearts and minds lately in leading the Tigers to three consecutive victories after Les Miles was fired. This is a cool sight, and it’s one that should make Orgeron feel good.

Of course, we’ll see how LSU fans approach Orgeron after the game Saturday. A victory over the Crimson Tide would do wonders for Orgeron’s chances to eliminate the “interim” from his title. But a loss — especially a blowout defeat — could quickly change the discussion.
Earlier Saturday, Orgeron said he didn’t know how beating Alabama would affect his chances of gaining the LSU head-coaching job full-time. But it’s common sense to assume topping the Crimson Tide would place public opinion on his side.
It will be fun to see how the next few hours unfold.
