LSU has finalized its non-conference home football schedule for 2018. On Thursday afternoon, the school announced it would be hosting Rice, Southern Louisiana and Louisiana Tech in Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers will face Southern Louisiana on Sept. 8, one week after its opener against Miami at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Rice will travel to Baton Rouge, La. on Nov. 17, just two weeks prior to the Tigers’ final regular season game. Louisiana Tech will travel to Tiger Stadium on Oct. 20.
“We want to continue to schedule teams from our state when possible, which allows resources to remain in the state and the fans in Louisiana to experience the best venue in the country, Tiger Stadium,” LSU athletic director Joe Alleva said in a statement.
The game against Southern will be just the second meeting between the schools. LSU beat the Lions, 48-7, in 1949 in Tiger Stadium. Per the school’s release, LSU and Rice played every year from 1932-52 and then again from 1961-83. LSU leads the series with the Owls, 37-13-5. LSU is 18-1 all-time against Louisiana Tech — the Tigers last played Tech in 2009 and won 24-16.
