BATON ROUGE, La. — As much as some LSU fans may be grumbling about the prospect of a morning kickoff at Tiger Stadium, you couldn’t ask for better conditions for a football game as LSU and Arkansas prepare to square off.
The sun is out without a cloud in the sky. It’s a rare perfect fall day in south Louisiana — no humidity to speak of, and not so cold that fans will need anything heavier than a windbreaker.
To prepare you for kickoff, SEC Country is providing pregame observations from Tiger Stadium. The coffee you’ll have to find on your own.
LSU-Arkansas pregame observations
- Lafayette, La. native Cole Kelley took the pregame snaps at quarterback for Arkansas. There was some speculation that starter Austin Allen would be able to return from injury, and LSU prepared for both quarterbacks this week.
- As expected, LSU left tackle KJ Malone is not dressed out. Malone hasn’t played since the Florida game. He is not longer using crutches, at least.
- Donte Jackson, who started at safety last week at Alabama, once again warmed up at the position. This indicates that the Tigers are prepared to play out of their base 3-4 defense more than the nickel against Arkansas.
- Just 15 minutes before kickoff, Tiger Stadium is maybe one-third full.

Just another Saturday hanging out with a World Series champion and former LSU baseball great.

When you’re on the hot seat, you might as well let it all hang out. Arkansas coach Bret Bielema was chilling to the max during the Razorbacks’ early walk-through, checking it out in a track suit and sandals.
