BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU baseball team is ready to make changes.
After his Tigers lost two of three games to Texas A&M last weekend, LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri is shifting the way he deploys his midweek pitchers, moving regular starter Zack Hess to the weekend bullpen. In place of Hess, freshman Todd Peterson will start tonight when LSU (19-10, 5-4 SEC) plays host to Grambling State from Alex Box Stadium.

Mainieri will send freshman Todd Peterson to the hill to start tonight’s game. This will be the second start of Peterson’s career. On the year, Peterson is 1-1 with a 5.68 ERA.
Peterson’s start shouldn’t be a long one, as Mainieri said to expect as many as 10 pitchers to be used Tuesday night. Those pitchers should include Hess, as he learns to come out of the bullpen. Also expect to see closer Caleb Gilbert, who is looking to recover from a blown save in the ninth inning of Saturday’s loss to Texas A&M.
