LSU basketball signee Ja’Vonte Smart loves the camaraderie he enjoys with his teammates.
How much so? He considers them like family — so much so that he said, “They came out my mama too.”
As you can see in the clip from WAFB 9 News’ Jacques Doucet below, the talented Scotlandville High guard spoke about his teammates and offered big praise. Yes, the dropped the “came out my mama” line. But there was plenty more to his message.
Give it a watch here:
"The whole team is like my brother. They came out my mama too."

247Sports’ composite rates the 6-foot-4, 185-pound player from Baton Rouge as a 4-star prospect in the Class of 2018. He’s rated as the top player in Louisiana and the nation’s No. 30 player overall for his class. He signed with LSU on Nov. 8 after interest from Kentucky coach John Calipari.
You can read much more about Smart’s recruiting journey in this recent piece by SEC Country’s Alex Hickey.
LSU fans should enjoy watching Smart in future seasons, and you know he’ll arrive on campus with a knack for being loyal to those closest to him.
