Less than a week has passed since LSU extended an offer to four-star cornerback Kary Vincent, Jr.
Already, the Tigers’ coaches have been to Port Arthur, Texas to check in on the newly offered prospect.
LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond and area recruiter Bradley Dale Peveto stopped in at Memorial High School early Tuesday morning to speak with Vincent, his father and high school coach in a meeting that went considerably well for the highly sought-after cornerback.
“It was great. I love those guys,” Vincent told SEC Country. “They had a great conversation with my coach and my father, and they kept it real about everything.”
Vincent, the nation’s No. 17 cornerback in the Class of 2017, picked up an offer from LSU six days earlier.
Quickly, he placed the Tigers high on his list of top schools.
After hearing what Raymond and Peveto envision for the 5-foot-11, 170-pound Texas native’s future, Vincent may be inclined to bump LSU up even higher.
“(They talked about) how much more they can develop me and how they’re excited for me to come up,” Vincent said. “They just stressed that I can come in early and have a positive impact and compete.”
Vincent calls defensive backs that play at LSU “multimillionaire defensive backs,” and believes he fits the mold to be one some day.
To hear that Raymond believes that he can make an impact in the Tigers’ secondary, Vincent couldn’t hide his emotion.
“It was exciting,” he admitted. “When a program like LSU thinks that highly of you, how can you not be excited?”
Vincent plans to include LSU in his top 10 whenever he decides to release it, and believes the team cemented its place by making the visit to his high school Tuesday.
The elite four-star cornerback added he has a gut feeling the Tigers will be in the mix until the end based largely on what he heard from their coaches during the meeting.
“I can see they’re truly interested,” Vincent said. “They’re in it. I know.”
