Jhamon Ausbon gave a verbal commit to LSU on twitter on Saturday, and a day later, he opened up about why he chose the Tigers. The 4-star receiver told 247Sports that the commitment was “a dream come true.”
Earlier in the month, the 6-foot-2 receiver, who is ranked No. 11 nationally at his position, announced his final four schools. The Tigers beat out Auburn, Michigan and Texas A&M. There were a slew of other SEC schools that also offered him but didn’t factor into the final decision, including Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina.
“People who know me know how much I love LSU,” Ausbon told 247Sports’ Shea Dixon. “Even my bedroom is LSU-themed. I have always loved LSU and been a big fan. I know there were people who were surprised, and that’s kind of because I didn’t tell a lot of people. Texas A&M is a great school and I am thankful for the coaches who recruited me, but LSU is where my heart is.
“It felt amazing to commit to LSU and feel all that love. It’s a monkey off my back right now, for sure.”
Ausbon serves as another big commitment for LSU wide receiver coach Dameyune Craig in his first year.
