LSU’s secondary may have a tougher time shutting down Texas Tech’s aerial attack without one of its best defensive leaders. Senior defensive back Jalen Mills went to the locker room after sustaining a leg injury during the second quarter of the Texas Bowl, according to ESPN’s Maria Taylor.
Mills suffered an ankle injury during the summer that kept him out of the first five games of the season. Taylor reported that the injury Mills sustained on Tuesday was to the same leg.

Mills went down after a big collision with teammate Deion Jones while chasing Texas Tech wideout Jakeem Grant. He was replaced by junior Dwayne Thomas.
UPDATE: Mills has returned to the game with his left ankle wrapped. He took the field for LSU’s first defensive play of the second half.
