STARKVILLE, Miss. — LSU sophomore defensive end Rashard Lawrence will not play against Mississippi State.
Lawrence missed last week’s game against Chattanooga with an ankle injury sustained in the season opener against BYU. Lawrence practiced on Monday and Tuesday of this week, but sat out the rest of the week. On Thursday, Ed Orgeron listed him as “out” for the game.
However, prior to the game Lawrence shed the walking boot that he had been wearing since getting hurt against BYU. He took the field during pre-game warmups, but unlike the rest of his defensive line teammates he did not wear cleats or go through drills.
Lawrence is not dressed out in uniform and will watch the game from the LSU sidelines.
Lawrence’s importance to the LSU defensive line was evident against BYU. He finished with 4 tackles, including 0.5 for loss, in the season opener.
As was the case last week, Glen Logan will start and Neil Farrell will also see playing time in Lawrence’s place.
