LSU is looking to continue to build upon its reputation as “RBU.”
The Tigers have extended an offer to the nation’s No. 21-rated running back, Devan Barrett.
“Blessed to receive an offer from Louisiana State University!” Barrett tweeted out on Monday afternoon.
LSU’s offer to the four-star running back out of Tampa Catholic High School (Fla.) comes two days after he unofficially visited Florida.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Florida native also holds offers from Auburn, South Carolina and Alabama, among many others.
LSU has already secured a commitment from three-star running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire for its 2017 recruiting class. Edwards-Helaire, rated the nation’s No. 28 prospect at the position, is considered a hard commit.
The Tigers’ coaches may be planning for the post-Leonard Fournette era in Baton Rouge, La., and doing so by adding versatile running backs that fit an offense that’s expected to include more spread principles.
