There has been a bevy of booms out of Baton Rouge this Thursday.
Hours after landing a commitment from elite junior college edge-rusher Travez Moore, LSU landed a prospect that can play next to him along the defensive line.
Standout Plaquemine (La.) High School defensive tackle Nelson Jenkins received an offer from head coach Ed Orgeron and committed over the phone. Jenkins committed to Kansas just 10 days earlier.
The 6-foot-4, 280-pounder is the No. 29 prospect out of the state of Louisiana and the No. 43 defensive tackle in the recruiting class.
Plaquemine head coach Paul Distefano informed SEC Country that Orgeron called his offense to speak to Jenkins on Thursday and the commitment occurred then and there.
Jenkins, a 3-star recruit, follows in the footsteps of teammate Todd Harris, who committed to LSU over Alabama on National Signing Day.
Jenkins counts as the seventh member of the Tigers’ 2018 recruiting class and the first true defensive linemen. Like Moore, Jenkins will be in attendance for LSU’s “Boys From The Boot” event this Saturday in Baton Rouge.
