LSU football: Former star Deion Jones named top rookie linebacker in the NFL by Pro Football Focus
LSU may be more commonly referred to as “DBU” but they’ve produced some great linebackers as well. The latest in that group is Deion Jones, who left Baton Rouge following the 2015 season and was drafted in the second round by the Atlanta Falcons.
As any fan would hope of such a high draft pick, Jones went on to have a stellar rookie season for the Falcons, and was one of the leading contenders for defensive rookie of the year. In fact, according to Pro Football Focus’ measurements, no rookie linebacker in the NFL was better than Jones in 2016:

Pro Football Focus’ grades attempt to take all aspects of play into account, including those that would not show up in a box score. That’s not to say Jones struggled in those areas either, as he finished the season with over 100 tackles and two pick-sixes.
