BATON ROUGE, La. — Former 3-star recruit and Catholic High School product Aaron Moffitt will be moving from defensive end to tight end, LSU football coach Ed Orgeron announced Wednesday.
Moffitt, the son of LSU football strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffitt, enrolled at LSU for fall camp a week ago. Orgeron said though Moffitt was recruited as a defensive end, the team is deeper on the defensive line and needed an extra blocker to help as an H-back, or a fullback and tight end hybrid, in Matt Canada’s offense.
Moffitt played tight end early on in his high school career but eventually focused on defensive end as he was being recruited. Moffitt will likely sit behind the likes of J.D. Moore and Foster Moreau on the H-back depth chart, as well as fellow true freshman Tory Carter, the No. 1 fullback in the country for the recruiting class of 2017.
