LSU football is the No. 1 topic of discussion every day on SEC Country’s One Team, One Podcast. Host Carter ‘The Power” Bryant is joined in this episode by SEC Country recruiting ace Sam Spiegelman, who shares why the Tigers will land 5-star cornerbacks Anthony Cook and Patrick Surtain Jr., his ranking of the top Louisiana prospects of the class of 2019 and what to expect from LSU coach Ed Orgeron the rest of the week on the recruiting trail.
Anthony Cook and Patrick Surtain Jr. will be Tigers
LSU has been in the lead for Patrick Surtain Jr. for months and SEC Country’s Sam Spiegelman has kept a close relationship with him. The 247Sports Crystal Ball Projections have the Tigers with a 90 percent chance of signing him. Spiegs says to keep a close eye because he still does have some official visits to make the rest of this season.
Cook will make his decision on Monday and Spiegelman has written about LSU’s late push. It is down to Ohio State, Texas and the Tigers. Spiegs is one of the few writers that believes Orgeron will get him to Baton Rouge despite the Crystal Ball Projection saying otherwise.
Top 19 of 2019
Spiegelman released his first ranking of Louisiana’s top 19 prospects of the 2019 class only days after updating his top 30 ranking of the class of 2018. He believes this could be golden year for Orgeron building a national championship contender.
There is an embarrassment of riches again in the secondary with this group, led by uncommitted prospects Derek Stingley Jr. and Devin Bush. The highest-ranked LSU commit on the list is No. 3 Kardell Thomas. The top spot belongs to 5-star defensive lineman Ishmael Sopsher.
