LSU football is the No. 1 topic of discussion every day on SEC Country’s One Team, One Podcast. Host Carter ‘The Power” Bryant shares why LSU quarterback Danny Etling is wrong about Thanksgiving being an underrated holiday. Also, SEC Country beat writer Nick Suss hops on to argue the contrary against Bryant, what he learned after watching the Tennessee film and why Texas A&M is the Dennis Green of SEC football teams.
Danny Etling’s Thanksgiving takes are wrong
Etling shared some strong opinions about Turkey Day in which Bryant disagreed. Thanksgiving is great for time off of work and to see family members. Outside of that, the weird and troubling history and bland food makes it an easily forgettable holiday.
Suss shared why Thanksgiving is awesome because it’s the perfect holiday for football-watching culture. He even wrote about how Etling might be the Thanksgiving of SEC quarterbacks.
Suss’s film study centered around Etling and offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s use of the option against Tennessee. He and Bryant discuss why these Canada calls were so critical in the red zone.
LSU star cornerback Donte Jackson had a rough outing against the Vols, made worse by an obscene gesture. Suss believes the Tigers were right in not suspending him.
Texas A&M Preview
Suss shares some interesting thoughts on Texas A&M, a team LSU has beaten the last six times these teams have played. He believes the Aggies’ elite pass rush and explosive offensive weapons could give the Tigers fits on Saturday.
Also, Bryant rants on the media’s obsession of Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield’s crotch grab against Kansas. One Baton Rouge Heisman voter called Mayfield’s antics “thug” behavior. Why do we love to be offended?
