LSU football ranked on list of top-25 QB rooms in nation for 2018
LSU football is in the news every day, and the Bayou Bengal Briefing is here to keep you updated with the latest headlines five mornings a week. Join us every Monday through Friday for the biggest news on Tigers football, recruiting, baseball and more. Enjoy!
Well, this is surprising
In an article for 247Sports, analyst Barton Simmons ranked the top 25 quarterback rooms in college football for 2018. In what might be a shock to some, Simmons included LSU on the countdown, slotting the Tigers at No. 22.
Simmons seems to believe Ohio State graduate transfer Joe Burrow will end up winning the starting job, giving youngsters Myles Brennan and Lowell Narcisse more time to develop. Between Burrow, Brennan, Narcisse and junior Justin McMillan, LSU has four capable passers, albeit none with much playing experience.
Among SEC schools, LSU ranks sixth on the list behind Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi State, Auburn and Ole Miss and ahead of Missouri. The No. 1 team on the list, Washington, includes an SEC transfer in former Georgia starter Jacob Eason, who isn’t eligible to play until 2019 but is still, for their list, in the room.
This should be a spectacular year for passers in the conference, with players such as Missouri’s Drew Lock, Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham, South Carolina’s Jake Bentley, Mississippi State’s Nick Fitzgerald and Georgia’s Jake Fromm intermingling with new starters Burrow and Alabama standout sophomore Tua Tagovailoa.
Watch this for laughs
Everyone who has followed LSU football recently knows that former LSU All-American and New York Jets safety Jamal Adams has quite a personality. On Tuesday, Adams showed that off.
Adams posted the following video of himself reacting to mean tweets posted about him. If you’re familiar with the format, you’ll recognize Adams’ retorts and return jabs as among the best you’ll see. If not, just watch the video to see what Adams has to say about his former LSU teammate, Leonard Fournette.
Today in made-up holidays
Because made-up holidays are weird, June 20 is National Hike with a Geek Day. No, really. I have no idea why. That’s such a specifically weird holiday to celebrate. But if you get the chance, partake. I plan on going on a long walk today, so if you see me walking around Baton Rouge, feel free to join.
I don’t know which one of us will be the geek. I guess that’s up to the eye of the beholder. But either way, I’ll do my part.
