BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU football team’s 2019 schedule seems to be complete.
According to a report from FBSSchedules, LSU will play Utah State on Oct. 5, 2019 in Tiger Stadium. The addition of Utah State to the 2019 schedule rounds out LSU’s nonconference slate for the year, a slate that also includes a road game against Texas and home games against Georgia Southern and Northwestern State.
LSU is reportedly set to pay Utah State $1.5 million to play this game. The matchup replaces a previously canceled game against Idaho, which is dropping to the Football Championship Subdivision after getting kicked out of the Sun Belt Conference.
Assuming he’s still with the program in two years, this game will be something of a reunion matchup for LSU football defensive coordinator Dave Aranda. Aranda served as the defensive coordinator at Utah State for one year in 2012 before moving to Wisconsin from 2013-15.
LSU and Utah State have played twice previously. The Tigers won both matchups, most recently a 31-14 win in 2001.
