LSU fans may have been anxiously awaiting National Signing Day on Wednesday, but one commitment came a day early.
Three-star Louisiana linebacker Layton Garnett announced his commitment to LSU on Tuesday afternoon via Twitter.
“I have decided to further my education and football career at Louisiana State University!” he said.
Garnett is expected to join the football program as a preffered walk-on.
The 6-foot-3, 250-pound West Monroe High School (La.) product took an official visit to LSU’s campus on Jan. 29.
Two days later, Garnett made the decision to go to LSU despite scholarship offers from Louisiana-Monroe, Army and Kansas.
LSU’s 2016 class includes commitments from a pair of linebackers in early enrollee Michael Divinity and four-star Texas product Erick Fowler.
