Clyde Edwards-Helaire is among the priority visitors heading to LSU on Friday for his official visit, but he’ll see the coaches even earlier than expected.
Edwards-Helaire, LSU’s lone running back commit in the 2017 recruiting class, will receive an in-home visit from future position coach Jabbar Juluke on Thursday night.
The 3-star running back has remained in constant communication with the Tigers’ coaching staff since late December when Edwards-Helaire temporarily re-opened his recruitment. That lasted only a matter of hours before head coach Ed Orgeron reconnected with the Catholic (La.) High standout, who subsequently reaffirmed his pledge.
Edwards-Helaire represents a vital part of the 2017 class as LSU looks to help fill the void left behind by Leonard Fournette, who is on his way to the NFL. Derrius Guice, a former Catholic teammate of Edwards-Helaire, is next in line for the Tigers, with Edwards-Helaire being a part of the next chapter.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder was banking on increased communication to eventually shut down his recruitment. An in-home visit from Juluke paired with an official visit this weekend could certainly lock the talented running back into LSU’s class.
