College football season will be here before you know it, so that means it’s time for some prognostication. Here’s a list that LSU fans hope is wildly inaccurate by the time bowl season rolls around.
LSU made College Football News’ list for top 5 overrated college football teams. Other teams on the list includes North Carolina, Penn State, Southern Cal and Wyoming.

It’s all relative in the SEC West. Alabama will win it, Auburn will be the darling – thanks to QB Jarrett Stidham – and the rest of the division will fall into its familiar pattern. While no one will predict LSU to win it, the hope will be for RB Derrius Guice, head coach Ed Orgeron, and a slew of good talents to be enough to make a whole lot of noise.
But thanks to the adjustment of the Florida game to Gainesville – it was supposed to be at Florida last year and LSU this season before hurricane issues changed that up – there’s an ugly second half with the Gators, Ole Miss, Alabama and Tennessee all away from Death Valley.
SEC Country’s Christopher Walsh’s methodology calculated LSU as the second-most overrated team in the last five years.
LSU was picked to finish third in the SEC West behind Alabama and Auburn in the conference’s preseason voting. Running back Derrius Guice and linebacker Arden Key were both named preseason first-team All-SEC.
