Consider Ed Orgeron impressed that Purdue recruited two future SEC starting quarterbacks.
As relayed by SEC Country’s Nick Suss on Monday, the LSU interim coach said, “I want to know who’s evaluating those quarterbacks at Purdue and give them a call,” when speaking about the fact that both LSU quarterback Danny Etling and Florida quarterback Austin Appleby will play Saturday when the Tigers host the Gators at Tiger Stadium.
Of course, the connection to Purdue for Appleby and Etling is well known. Appleby had 2,777 yards passing with 19 touchdowns and 19 interceptions with the Boilermakers from 2013 to 2015. Etling threw for 2,490 yards with 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions for Purdue in the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
SEC Country’s Alex Hickey provided the comment’s context below:
@bigahickey Context correction: It seems this quote was actually about Purdue's ability to recruit two SEC starters, which makes more sense.

It’s easy to wonder where Purdue would be now if one or both quarterbacks had stayed with the Boilermakers. Purdue is 3-7 this season. Coach Darrell Hazell was fired in October after posting a 9-33 record at the school.
