Purple Reign has hit Alabama.
LSU landed a surprising commitment from 3-star defensive tackle Neil Farrell on Tuesday evening.
The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Mobile, Ala., native is rated as the No. 39 defensive tackle and chose the out-of-state Tigers over Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida State and Southern Cal, among many others.
Farrell joins fellow defensive linemen Tyler Shelvin and Aaron Moffitt in LSU’s 2017 recruiting class. There is no indication whether the commitment comes after 5-star Texas defensive tackle Marvin Wilson and top junior college defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs opted not to attend the team’s barbecue this past week.
LSU defensive line coach Ed Orgeron and area recruiter Dameyune Craig spearheaded Farrell’s recruitment.
Farrell is the 18th commitment in LSU’s current recruiting class and the fourth since Friday.
