MARRERO, La. — As LSU continues its search to bring in other options at quarterback, one name being mentioned over and over again is 4-star Maryland commit Dwayne Haskins.
The Potomac, M.D., native spent much of last week practicing alongside a host of LSU commits at the Under Armour All-American Game, and without question they put the full-court press on Haskins to reconsider his commitment.
One player that particularly courted Haskins was 4-star LSU linebacker signee Michael Divinity, who inked his letter of intent on Tuesday morning and said Haskins is definitely a player he and his fellow LSU commits are trying to recruit.
Divinity roomed with 4-star LSU safety commit Eric Monroe and spent much of the week in Orlando, Fla. with 5-star LSU cornerback commit Saivion Smith.
The trio of Divinity, Monroe and Smith was often in Haskins’ ear, though the three were unsure how receptive the quarterback was.
“I was really probably talking to Dwayne, who’s committed to Maryland, about getting him to switch back over to LSU,” Divinity admitted.
“We talked to him a lot, tried to persuade him to come back to LSU. Really, I don’t know his situation. He would just sit there and look at us and smile. He’s playing hard to get right now.”
Haskins is reportedly a top target for LSU, which is considering a handful of transfer options and current prospects committed elsewhere.
Haskins is rated as the No. 7 pro-style quarterback nationally and Maryland’s No. 3 prospect.
