The departure of LSU offensive line coach Jeff Grimes has not had a ripple effect in the 2018 recruiting class, but it just yielded a loss for 2019.
Kenyon Green, a 5-star offensive lineman from Humble, Texas, de-committed from LSU on Monday evening.
Green committed to Grimes and the Tigers immediately after he procured an offer last December and stuck with LSU despite a bevy of new offers from schools such as Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, Alabama and TCU, among others. The loss of Grimes was seemingly the nail in the coffin, forcing Green to reopen his recruitment as he evaluates all of his options.
A 5-star offensive lineman, Green was the highest-ranked member of LSU’s 2019 recruiting class, which entered the day ranked No. 3 nationally. The departure of Grimes drops the Tigers to six current commitments in the group, including 5-star guard Kardell Thomas and 3-star lineman Thomas Perry.
