AJ Carter has reopened his recruitment.
Carter, who gave a verbal commitment to LSU last week, opted to de-commit from the program just a few days later.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound running back from Many (La.) High School became the third tailback in the Tigers’ 2018 recruiting class following pledges from Chris Curry and Tae Provens at the end of June. Carter, who earned an offer from Ed Orgeron on June 23 following a standout performance at LSU’s elite high school camp, flipped from UCLA to LSU three days later.
With the de-commitment from the 3-star prospect, LSU’s 2018 class falls to 21 commitments.
In the past week, priority 4-star target Harold Joiner opted to exclude the Tigers from his final grouping of schools. Another target, James Cook from Miami, de-committed from Florida State but said he is only considering the Seminoles and UGA moving forward.
Expect LSU to remain in contact with Carter moving forward.
