LSU became well-acquainted with the football Saturday.
The Tigers held on to the ball for a whopping 42 minutes, 33 seconds in their 42-7 victory against Missouri at Tiger Stadium. According to Todd Politz of LSU, it was the program’s highest time of possession on record dating to 1978. The previous high was 41 minutes, 48 seconds against Florida in 1978.
.@LSUfootball had the ball for 42:33 v. Missouri, its highest TOP on record (since '78). Previous high was 41:48 at FLA in '78 (80 rushes!).

LSU put a huge dent in Missouri’s defense in that time. LSU outgained the visitors 634 yards to 265, and it outrushed Missouri 418-77.
This was a fine way to begin the post-Les Miles era.
