LSU held the top spot in the Week 8 Official SEC Country Power Poll and it wasn’t even close.
The Tigers received 15 of a possible 17 first-place votes from our panel of local and national writers following their 35-28 win over Florida last Satuday. LSU’s 219 points were 13 more than second-place Alabama.
There were a couple of voters who gave the Crimson Tide their first-place vote. It was mainly a two-team race, as third-place Florida was 21 points behind Alabama after losing a close game to LSU last weekend.
LSU and Alabama could remain the top two teams in the conference heading into their matchup on Nov. 7. Both teams are idle next weekend. The Tigers will host Western Kentucky this weekend and Alabama will travel to Knoxville, Tenn. for its annual rivalry against Tennessee.
