LSU making strong push for 4-star offensive tackle
LSU is keying in on four priority positions as National Signing Day continues to draw closer.
Count offensive tackle among them.
LSU coach Les Miles and offensive line coach Jeff Grimes made that apparently clear, as the two flew to Washington, D.C., to make an in-home visit with four-star offensive tackle Jauan Williams.
Late Thursday night, the nation’s No. 15 offensive tackle tweeted out this quartet of photos taken with the LSU coaching staff and his family.
“Had (a) marvelous home visit with coach Miles and coach Grimes,” the message read in part.
What’s more, LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron flew to Houston, Texas, to pay a visit to Williams’ uncle, according to 247Sports’ Shea Dixon.
The 6-foot-7, 303-pound tackle sits highly on the team’s offensive big board, as LSU looks to continue to bolster its future up front. The Tigers currently hold commitments from four-star prospect Willie Allen and three-star Alabama product Jakori Savage.
LSU is set to lose both of its starting tackles from this past season and is in dire need of reinforcements at the position, meaning Williams could earn immediate playing time in Baton Rouge, La.
Williams took an official visit to LSU last weekend, and he is set to officially visit UGA this weekend.
LSU faces stiff competition from UGA, Florida State and Texas A&M for the tackle.
