Matt Canada was introduced as LSU’s new offensive coordinator on Wednesday, and he already knows how to play to his new fan base.
When speaking about Alabama, he made sure to mention that he’s 1-0 for his career against the Crimson Tide. As relayed by SEC Country’s Nick Suss, Canada made sure to mention that he remembers beating Alabama in 2003 when he was an offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Northern Illinois. Northern Illinois beat Alabama 19-16 that year, one in which the Crimson Tide went just 4-9 under then-coach Mike Shula.
Canada will receive another taste of Alabama soon enough. But you have to admit, it’s pretty great that he brought up his brief history against the Crimson Tide when being introduced to LSU fans.
If that’s not winning the news conference, nothing is.
