George Brown Jr, a redshirt freshman offensive lineman, is transferring from LSU, Ross Dellenger of The Advocate reports.
247 Sports rated Brown as a 3-star recruit out of Winton Woods High School (Cincinnati) in 2015. He redshirted last season and didn’t play a snap.
His father, George Sr., spoke to The Advocate:
“He felt better to go with another staff and go play somewhere else. He’s not mad at LSU. LSU is a great school, great place to be. We love LSU. I’m not the one playing. My son decided he wanted to be somewhere else. He didn’t feel that was the place for him. We don’t have an issue. We love coach Miles and all of the staff there. He just decided that he would take his talents other places.”
Brown will make a quick choice on his next destination. He’s considering Miami, Michigan State, Penn State and UCLA — and he’d like to enroll by Friday.
Was strongly courted by Kentucky as a high school recruit. Kentucky has a need for offensive linemen. Hm. https://t.co/XiqObxsuf7

The 6-foot-7, 290-pound lineman would have likely slotted in behind sophomore Tony Weathersby at right tackle.
Finding playing time is a big deal in CFB now. That's 3 signees that left #LSU after a year: Tyron Johnson, G. Brown and Hanner Shipley.

Brown is the eighth defection from the program this offseason, including most recently sophomore receiver Tyron Johnson, who announced Friday that he was transferring to Oklahoma State.
