LSU’s coaching staff has been busy during the January Contact Period extending offers to severable notable out-of-state recruits. The latest is certainly buzzworthy.
On Friday, the Tigers offered Class of 2020 Alabama cornerback commitment Javier Morton, who gave a verbal pledge to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide just more than a month ago.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect out of Stephenson (Ga.) High School in Georgia already boasts a tremendous offer sheet, with overtures from Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina, UGA and Auburn, among several others. LSU was his 22nd offer heading into his junior campaign.
Ed Orgeron’s staff has not dished out too many offers for the 2020 class and holds only one commitment from blue-chip defensive lineman McKinnley Jackson. The Tigers have only offered six defensive backs prospects in that class — all of whom are from outside of Louisiana — with Morton, a Georgia native, being the latest. Morton is just the fourth corner to garner an offer.
