LSU’s pursuit of quarterbacks is always an interesting saga. On Thursday, a new wrinkle was unfolded.
The Tigers extended a scholarship offer to 2019 Alabama quarterback Bo Nix. Nix, a 4-star dual-threat, is the No. 2 recruit at the position in next year’s recruiting cycle.
Oh, and by the way, Nix is the son of former Auburn quarterback Patrick Nix.
Nix, a 6-foot-2, 194-pounder from Pinson Valley (Ala.) High School, is rated as the No. 85 overall prospect in the 2019 recruiting cycle, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.
In addition to his newly minted offer from LSU, Nix holds offers from UGA, Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State and, fittingly, Auburn.
The Tigers have yet to secure a quarterback pledge in their 2018 or 2019 recruiting classes. Both offensive coordinator Matt Canada and Alabama area recruiter Tommie Robinson are spearheading the effort on Nix, the Auburn legacy.
Last weekend, Nix was named the quarterback MVP at Nike’s “The Opening” regional camp in Atlanta.
There are currently nine Crystal Ball picks in for Nix. He is unanimously linked to his father’s alma mater.
