LSU’s national junior day was rather quiet, but it did result in a big-time offer.
The Tigers’ coaching staff extended an offer to 3-star dual-threat quarterback Jarren Williams, a Kentucky commitment.
The 6-foot-2, 206-pounder from Central Gwinnett (Ga.) High School gave his verbal pledge to the Wildcats in June 2016, but has since seen his offer sheet blow up. He has landed marquee offers such as Tennessee and then LSU on Saturday.
Williams was one of several quarterbacks in attendance for junior day, in addition to top 2018 Louisiana 4-star Justin Rogers, Alabama quarterback Jack Samsel, 2019 Houston product Grant Gunnell and Taj Gregory. Williams was the only visiting quarterback to land his offer on the visit.
LSU is aiming to add one or two quarterbacks in this recruiting cycle. The team took two — Lowell Narcisse and Myles Brennan — in its 2017 signing class.
Williams is the nation’s No. 17 dual-threat quarterback prospect, per the 247Sports composite rankings, and the No. 46 overall recruit from the state of Georgia.
