Coaches from LSU and Ohio State must have been paying attention.
Members of both the Tigers and Buckeyes coaching staff have made their way to Monroe, La. to make in-home visits with Louisiana’s No. 1 prospect, according to KTVE/KARD’s Gene Ponti.
Those coaches are defensive line coach Ed Orgeron and special teams coordinator/linebackers coach Bradley Dale Peveto. Orgeron was the first coach to make contact with Lawrence on behalf of LSU.
Five-star defensive tackle prospect Rashard Lawrence is down to two — LSU and Ohio State — and Wednesday was the final day of the recruiting dead period.
On Wednesday night, Lawrence announced he will make his decision on Jan. 22, days after he makes his official visit to LSU.
In December, Lawrence told SEC Country he would not need to wait until National Signing Day (Feb. 3) to make his decision. He also relayed the importance of in-home visits to making up his mind.
“At this point, there’s a big dead period coming up, so I’m going to wait until the dead period is over to do in-home visits,” Lawrence said. “I’m done visiting schools. I have to wait and kind of see. I probably want to do something in January. I don’t want to have to wait until Signing Day unless I have to. If I have to, I will, but I’m looking (making my decision) at some time in January.”
