LSU’s search for Mike VII appears to be picking up.
As reported by The Advocate’s Scott Rabalais on Wednesday, LSU President F. King Alexander said the school has “some leads” in its search for its new tiger mascot. LSU plans to place the eventual Mike VII in a revamped habitat next month. Alexander said the habitat is expected to be completed by Aug. 10.
“Finding a tiger is not the problem,” Alexander added via Rabalais.
In Rabalais’ piece, Alexander said there are about 15,000 tigers in captivity throughout North America. LSU’s preference for its next Tiger, as reported by Rabalais, is one that is young and physically fit “to enhance his chances of having a significant reign as its mascot.”
It sounds like a treasured part of the game-day experience in Baton Rouge will be back soon. That’s a win for LSU fans.
