Hours after Joe Burrow announced that he would transfer from Ohio State, many linked him to LSU. It was reported Wednesday that Burrow will visit LSU this weekend. And it seems that one current LSU quarterback, redshirt junior Justin McMillan, isn’t too thrilled about the possibility of adding another quarterback to the mix.
McMillan’s tweet — “Love this game too much to be toyed with” — seems to be a clear indication that LSU is very open to the possibility of adding a fourth quarterback to the team. McMillan also retweeted an article related to Burrow, so he seems to be aware of LSU’s connection to the grad transfer.
Of the three LSU quarterbacks on the roster, McMillan performed the best in the spring game as he threw for 182 yards and a touchdown on 27 pass attempts. According to The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger, McMillan is set to graduate in July, thus leaving open the possibility of him becoming a graduate transfer.
Also in the LSU quarterback competition are Myles Brennan and Lowell Narcisse. Brennan is the only one of the three with real game experience, but he’s attempted just 24 passes. It’s also worth pointing out that Burrow has thrown only 39 passes in the last two seasons.
Burrow also reportedly will visit Cincinnati, the other school that had been given permission to contact the Ohio State quarterback. Other schools that have been mentioned as possible options for Burrow include Florida and Nebraska. Florida coach Dan Mullen commented on the possibility of adding a graduate transfer quarterback on Tuesday night, but he could not specifically mention Burrow because of NCAA rules.
At whichever school Burrow picks, he will be immediately eligible and have two seasons of eligibility left.
LSU opens the 2018 season in Arlington, Texas, on Sept. 2 when the Tigers take on the Miami Hurricanes.
