The Heisman Trophy race has become a one-sided affair.
LSU tailback Leonard Fournette remained the leader of the pack in Bovada’s latest Heisman odds. Fournette’s odds improved from 1:2 last week to 2:5 after he ran for 150 yards and a touchdown last weekend against Western Kentucky.
Fournette’s performance against the Hilltoppers was a modest one by his standards, but it didn’t harm his Heisman hopes. Only ten players made Bovada’s list and the biggest challenger to Fournette is TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin, who was listed at 15:2 odds to win the award. Baylor quarterback Seth Russell was in the mix as well, but he sustained a neck injury last weekend and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Only one other SEC player made the list along with Fournette. That was Alabama running back Derrick Henry, who was tied for fourth with 11:1 odds to win the Heisman. Henry carried the Crimson Tide with 143 yards and two touchdowns in Alabama’s 19-14 win over Tennessee.
