On Friday, LSU’s softball team lost 3-2 at James Madison, putting the Tigers on the brink of elimination in the NCAA Softball Tournament Super Regionals. To reach the Women’s College World Series, LSU would have to do something extremely difficult — win twice on the road in the same day.
LSU won 2-0 in the first game, setting up the do-or-die elimination game Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers led 3-2 when the Bulldogs loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh. And then, with one pitch, ecstasy and excitement across LSU nation. The Tigers got a strikeout for the final out and reached the World Series for the second straight season and fifth time overall.

The Tigers are now the second SEC team to punch their ticket to Oklahoma City for the Women’s College World Series. Georgia upset two-time defending champion Florida on Friday in a super regional in Gainesville. Alabama can advance with a win today and Auburn will play its first game of the super regional round Saturday. Missouri will have to win twice at Michigan to advance after losing in the first game of the series Saturday.
