There may not be a hotter coaching seat in college football than LSU’s Les Miles.
Instead of the Tigers’ game this weekend against Texas A&M, the focus of Miles’ press conference Monday remained the rumors of him being bought out of his contract at any moment. For those who don’t know, LSU boosters are reportedly willing to pay Miles’ $15 million buyout for him to leave.
If Miles were to leave LSU, it would have a major impact on the program’s recruiting. The Tigers already lost its prized quarterback commit, Feleipe Franks, on Monday night, but his de-commitment had nothing to do with the uncertainty surrounding the program.
SEC Country polled a few recruits who are considering LSU to get their thoughts on the chatter surrounding Miles’ status.
Adrian Ealy, OL, Baton Rouge, La. (undecided) — “Well, I think that Les Miles is a great coach. I hope he doesn’t leave LSU. I feel if anybody can turn that team around, it will be him. We will just have to see what happens.”
Devonta Jason, WR, New Orleans (LSU commit) — “I’m just waiting on the outcome. I’m not going off of the rumors.”
Willie Allen, OL, New Orleans (undecided) — “I think he should leave it in the Lord’s hands. God won’t lead him wrong.”
Corione Harris, WR, New Orleans (undecided) — “Well, it doesn’t really matter what the people say. Coach Les Miles is a great coach no matter what happens. I don’t think LSU should let him go.”
Keytaon Thompson, QB, New Orleans (undecided) — “I’ll just be waiting to see what happens.”
Asante Samuel, Jr., CB, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (undecided) — “I think they should let him finish the season before you get into things like that.”
