The Opening Finals 2017 kicks off Thursday and SEC Country has multiple bodies on hand at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.
There is no shortage of LSU commits, targets and storylines this week, and SEC Country will be providing daily updates, analysis, buzz, breaking news, TV information and rosters.
For starters, a trio of Tigers commits will be competing: 4-star defensive back Kelvin Joseph, 3-star defensive lineman Nelson Jenkins and 3-star linebacker Micah Baskerville. Adam Anderson was also invited to the Finals but was unable to make the trip. Additionally, priority targets such as Terrace Marshall, Patrick Surtain Jr., Tyson Campbell, Ja’Marr Chase, Anthony Cook, Harold Joiner and 2019 running back John Emery Jr. will all be on hand.
Other notable targets in attendance include Brennan Eagles, Luke Ford, Justin Rogers, Justin Fields, Jalen Preston, Channing Tindall, Al’vonte Woodard and Richard Gouraige.
The Tigers enter Wednesday with 22 commitments and the No. 3 recruiting class in the country, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. The fast start under first-year head coach Ed Orgeron makes for plenty of intriguing storylines during the stretch run. Most notably, who will round out LSU’s projected 26-man class?
Many of those candidates will be under the spotlight at Nike’s headquarters in Oregon. There will also be a major commitment coming on Sunday when Chase, Louisiana’s No. 2-ranked wide receiver in the 2018 class, will decide between LSU and TCU.
