Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s invitation has arrived.
The LSU running back commitment received an invitation to Nike’s “The Opening” finals in Beaverton, Ore.
The three-star prospect out of Catholic High School (Baton Rouge, La.) stood out at “The Opening” regional in New Orleans last month, where he was named the running back MVP.
The 5-foot-7, 191-pounder is rated as the No. 15 prospect from the state of Louisiana in the Class of 2017, per the 247Sports composite rankings.
Edwards-Helaire committed to LSU following the “Boys From The Boot” junior event in mid-February, telling SEC Country that the Tigers needed “a great running back” to keep the running back core alive.
Rated as the nation’s No. 26 running back in the class, Edwards-Helaire is expected to be a versatile weapon for LSU upon his arrival. He can run in between the tackles and torch opposing defenses as a receiver out of the backfield.
Both were on display during last year’s Division I state championship game when the Catholic High School product led the team to victory in front of LSU coach Les Miles.
Edwards-Helaire committed to the in-state Tigers two months later, and will join fellow LSU pledge Tyler Shelvin in Oregon for “The Opening” finals in July.
