NEW ORLEANS — One of the Swillings has punched their ticket out of Louisiana.
One of the Boot’s top 2017 prospects, cornerback Tre’ Swilling, committed to Georgia Tech over LSU, Alabama, Southern Cal and a host of other SEC schools on Monday.
His father, former New Orleans Saints Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Swilling, played at Georgia Tech in the mid-1980s.
Georgia Tech is one of a handful of schools to offer both Tre’ and his brother, 4-star athlete Bruce Jordan-Swilling. Add LSU to that category as well. Both brothers visited the nearby Baton Rouge campus several times dating back to the spring, including Junior Day, the Bayou Picnic, both elite prospect camps and the team barbecue last month.
He is expected to play college football with his brother, though Bruce is expected to take some more time with his decision.
With Swilling also scratched off the list, LSU is extremely unlikely to add another cornerback to its 2017 class. That leaves 4-star safety Todd Harris as the top remaining defensive back target.
