LSU has scheduled a home game against Nicholls State in 2020 in what will be the first meeting between the two schools.
HoumaToday.com first reported the news that the Colonels, located in nearby Thibodaux, will travel to Tiger Stadium at some point in 2020, though an exact date has not yet been set.
“We’ve never been to Baton Rouge and some of the other (Football Championship Subdivision) teams in our state have played there,” Nicholls second-year head coach Tim Rebowe told the outlet. “I know Southeastern (Louisiana) will get to go there, we will get to go there and it is big for us. It is good for the whole state when you can get a game between Nicholls and LSU.”
The game also completes the Tigers 2020 non-conference schedule. LSU will also host Texas and Idaho, and also have a matchup against Rice at NRG Stadium in Houston.
Nicholls nearly pulled off a historic upset against another SEC opponent earlier this year, when the Colonels traveled to Georgia, but the Bulldogs prevailed, 26-24. The Colonels will also play Texas A&M next season.
