BATON ROUGE, La. — Les Miles declined to answer a question about Leonard Fournette’s practice status on Wednesday, which of course all but answered whether the junior running back actually did return to the field this week following an apparent aggravation of his previous ankle sprain near the end of last Saturday’s 16-14 loss at Wisconsin.
“I’m not going to answer that question,” Miles said when flat-out asked if Fournette practiced.
He did say Fournette will play Saturday, “as far as I know.” He also added that Fournette’s ankle is “getting better.”
Fournette missed most of training camp with a sprained ankle. He was healthy enough to run for 138 yards on 23 carries against the Badgers and was second on the team with three catches for 38 yards, but hobbled off the field one play prior to Brandon Harris’ game-ending interception.
