As the spring winds down, Cam Akers has inched closer to his college decision.
The five-star Mississippi running back released his newly updated top 10 schools list, which included six schools from the SEC.
Alabama, Auburn, UGA, LSU, Ole Miss and Tennessee all made the cut, as did non-SEC powers Cal, Florida State, Michigan and Ohio State.
The 6-foot, 212-pounder from Clinton (Miss.) High School is coming off a visit to LSU for the Bayou Picnic. The Tigers crept back into the hunt for the elite running back after he rescinded his verbal commitment to Alabama on March 3.
Akers visited LSU twice this spring, both for the picnic and the Tigers’ spring game in mid-April. LSU has gained a lot of steam this spring with the Mississippi native, but faces some stiff competition from numerous SEC rivals, including the consensus new favorite, Ole Miss.
The five-star back has also made stops at Ohio State (March 7-8) and Tennessee (March 25), and has reservations to make a stop in Athens, Ga., this upcoming weekend.
Additionally, coaches fromAlabama, LSU, Florida State and Ohio State have all come through the Magnolia State to check in on Akers this spring.
