The springtime official visits add a new wrinkle to the recruiting cycle. One of LSU’s biggest opportunities with one of the nation’s premier 2019 defensive backs will take place in April.
LSU is scheduled to host 5-star California cornerback Chris Steele for an official visit on April 21, the weekend of the team’s annual spring game.
Steele, who hails from Bellflower, Calif., is the No. 29 overall prospect in the Class of 2019 and the No. 3-ranked cornerback in the group.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound cornerback recently took an unofficial visit to Baton Rouge earlier in February where he spent time with members of the Tigers’ coaching staff, most notably head coach Ed Orgeron and defensive backs coach Corey Raymond. Cornerback is a position of great need for LSU in the 2019 cycle after signing only one defensive back in the 2018 haul.
LSU currently holds a commitment from 4-star All-American defensive back Maurice Hampton and remains in the hunt for several elite cornerbacks across the country, including Derek Stingley Jr., Devin Bush and Marquez Beason. You can add Steele to that list as well.
