Odell Beckham Jr. enjoyed himself in a big way Monday night.
The former LSU wide receiver, a noted North Carolina fan, had reason to cheer after the Tar Heels earned their latest national championship with a victory over Gonzaga at University of Phoenix Stadium. In fact, Beckham said he wanted to be on the court as North Carolina celebrated its big moment.
As revealed in an interview with Newsday’s Tom Rock, the New York Giants star was feeling all sorts of excited.
“I wish I was on the court,” Beckham told Rock, “but this a dream come true.”
Apparently, Monday was quite the night for Beckham, who played at LSU from 2011-13 before becoming the 12th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. As reported by Rock, Beckham “was just behind the Carolina bench, exchanging hugs and congratulations with Tournament Most Outstanding Player Joel Berry II and senior center Kennedy Meeks.”
Beckham’s North Carolina fandom remains a bit of a curveball — who knew, right? — but it’s fun to see him excited about the Tar Heels’ big day.
It’d be interesting to see what would happen if LSU made a future run to the Final Four. He would have to pull for the Tigers, right?
